Hello,
Apple has announced the timeline of the access period and ballot for the proposed NEA
The access period begins October 21 with the ballot opening on October 28 and closing on October 30. Details will be shared by the ELR team shortly and absentee ballots will be available to those team who are on leave during the ballot.
We’re asking all employees to vote No on the proposed agreement. Here’s why:
No guaranteed wage increases for ¾ of employees.
A broken classification system that undervalues your work.
No leave entitlements enshrined in the EA leaving them up to Apple’s discretion.
Penalty rates that are below the award and a step back.
Unstable scheduling for full- and part-time workers.
Below award allowances.
Absolute minimum superannuation contributions.
All this and more! It is crucial we don’t allow this sub-standard agreement to pass.
The last enterprise agreement was voted on eight years ago. How many of your colleagues were working with Apple right years ago? The decisions made then have impacted all of us until now. We need to make sure we don’t only look out for our best interests, but for the interests of the team that haven’t been hired yet.
It is our responsibility to continue to keep Apple one of the best places to work; the people are one part, the conditions are the other.
What can I do?
We have to rely on each other to speak to as many people as possible and have the conversation about what matters most to our colleagues. Speak to your team, let them know why this agreement is so bad.
Apple is going to be holding information sessions as per their obligations under the Fair Work Act. Make sure you speak up in these meetings and voice your concerns.
Join your union! Many hours of work have been put into bargaining and creating sites like these and it’s because of union members like us that Apple has been forced into bargaining and a timeline it doesn’t want. Joining your union will also make sure that the power stays with the employees after the outcome of this EA, and prepare us for the next one.
Below are a list of resources that have been prepared in the lead up to the vote. They are all fantastic, detailed, and easy to read.
We will continue to publish updates throughout the access and voting period with resources, posters, and documentation that you can read and share with your colleagues.
In solidarity,
Apple Together Australia
