NEA Bargaining Meeting 6 & ASU Event
Details about our latest event, the outcome of the FWC hearing, and the ASU's meeting tonight!
Hello,
Bargaining meeting number SIX. This one was a short one, expect the next couple of meetings to be more substantial.
Fair Work Commission Proceeding
Apple shared that they had reached an agreement prior to the hearing with the ASU & SDA regarding their logs of claim. Apple intends to respond to some or most of the logs of claim from all three unions at the next bargaining meeting. The details of the hearing are confidential and not on the public record.
Additional Logs of Claim
Apple then invited further claims to be raised, as has now become routine in these meetings:
RAFFWU and other bargaining representatives wanted to discuss the rejection of its leave claims, Apple said that these can be discussed in a later meeting.
Apple reminded bargaining reps that any monetary claims will be responded to after the ASU and SDA submitted their logs of claim.
A lengthy discussion was had about the paying out of RSUs in instances of redundancy/termination — (whether this is relevant to the EA is up to interpretation).
A further very lengthy discussion was had about the consolidation of the official logs of claim; various representatives expressed views about how all of the logs of claim will be listed and if there is going to be distinction between different representatives.
Materials distributed in break rooms
Apple mentioned that it sent an email to all employees stating it was committed to good faith bargaining and welcomes engagement, discussion, and participation from all of its employees. Apple also recognised that there will be occasions where printed materials are left in the break rooms and that its employees are respectful, both in respect to the content in publications and the fact that the publications have been left in the break room for employees to read. Over the weekend, an email was sent to all Store Leaders that pamphlets from bargaining representatives and unions should not be removed. Apple has asked that if anyone is aware of a specific instance where materials are being removed or employees are being discouraged from having discussions, to send these details to the NEA2022 email.
